Man, seems like I just never have time for this project. However, time is now of the essence. I’ve gotten a heads up that most people arn’t durring these dark economic times. My job will be ending in a year, so thats the time frame I now have to get the rocco up and running so that I can depend on it. Not that I don’t have other transportation, but I think if I don’t get this done now, I don’t know when I’ll get another chance.

So, expect some new movement finally. I know I keep saying that, but I have been slowly picking up parts so I’m getting closer and closer to having everything I need to finally just put it all together. Hopefully I’ll have some progress to show over the course of this weekend. Wish me luck.

So, over a year later and I’m just getting back to this site. I didn’t die, I haven’t sold the car (my wife would kill me) and I wasn’t abducted by aliens. However, what did happen was my job blindsided me and I’ve been snowed under all this time.

I did manage to sneak in a few hours of work here and there on the car over all this time, but it wasn’t much. Also, we sent our only daughter off to college so there went all the spare money for car parts. However, the massive project I’ve been on is finished and now I only have some small projects to deal with for the remainder of the year. This should leave me with time to get the wrenches back on the rocco.

Actually, the other day I did get out there and get the clutch assy off the old tired motor. Here are a few shots of the minor progress I’ve made.

OMG! There's paint

Also managed to get a few parts painted up

So if all goes well, I should be making some progress over the weekends. Big hurldes now are to clean/paint the tranny, put motor/tranny back together and get it all back up in the car. From there, it’s wiring up the Digi I and finishing up a buch of small stuff. I think I see a small bit of light at the end of the tunnel.

OK, well, I haven’t put anything up here in a bit because I’ve been working on my rocco rather the writting about it. So, this is just a quick splash to let you know what the deal is.

I’m converting my 88′ Scirocco from a 1.8L 16v running stock CIS-E injection, to a modified 2.0L 16v running Digifant 1 injection. I’m also changing the suspension over to fully adjustable coil-vers from a set of H&R soft sport lowing springs. It’s a fairly sizable project and it’s taken me quite some time to build up the money to really get things rolling.

Currently, the 2L motor has been cleaned up, painted, had a set of Autotech 16v Sport Cams installed and a few other components added. I currently have the coil-overs installed, but no where near fully adjusted. The old 1.8L engine and trans have finally been dropped out of the car as of this past weekend and now the real fun begins. It’s time to clean the engine bay and start getting things ready for the new engine to go in.

Just so you folks get an idea of what all of this has been like, I’ve thrown together a quick pictorial page that’s almost up to date (just have few more pics to add). You can check out all the pics by clicking on this link.

I hope you enjoy the pics, look for another update in a few days. I’ll be attending a car show this weekend so I won’t have a chance to work on the rocco again untill next week.
